About The Artist
Sheilagh Caton Cooper is a Buckeye by birth, but a Texan at heart. Raised in the middle of three older brothers, a younger brother and younger sister, her love of art began in grade school. After graduating in 1981 from Bishop Lynch High School, Dallas, she worked full-time (with ten of the years for the owners of contemporary art gallery, Adams-Middleton, in various capacities) while attending evening classes until graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1997 with a Bachelors of Art in Art.
Since graduation, she has continued her art studies in numerous classes and workshops. In 2021 and 2022, she was a student of the intensive 12-week Art2Life Creative Visionary Program taught online by Bay Area artist, Nicholas Wilton and his team. She is currently a member of the Art2Life Academy and the Southwestern Watercolor Society.
Her artwork has been exhibited in numerous juried exhibits, including “Texas and Neighbors”, “Richardson Civic Art Society Regional”, “Southwestern Watercolor Society”, “Texas Visual Arts Citation”, and the “Western Federation of Watercolor Societies”. In 2023, her painting, “Road Trip”, received the 7th place “Stetson Award” in the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies’ juried exhibit, hosted by the Southwestern Watercolor Society. The juror was internationally known watercolor artist, Mary Whyte.
Sheilagh and Marshall married in Rome, Italy in 1991 and have one son. Sheilagh is grateful to them for all of their love and support of her art endeavors!
